Anodizing is an electrochemical process in which an electric current causes an oxidation reaction on the surface of aluminum and its alloys, forming a dense oxide film. Specifically, during anodizing, aluminum or aluminum alloy acts as the anode, reacting with hydrogen ions in the electrolyte to produce aluminum oxide and water, while releasing electrons. In the cathode reaction, water is reduced to hydrogen gas. As the reaction proceeds, an oxide film gradually forms on the aluminum surface, the thickness of which can be adjusted as needed.
