If a CNC machine tool uses an absolute position encoder (absolute pulse encoder), a zero-return reference point and a mechanical coordinate system are set at the factory. Because the absolute encoder has a memory retention function, users do not need to return to the reference point after each power-on and can use the machine directly. If the reference point is lost due to an encoder power supply problem, it must be reset as follows:
1. First, set parameter #1815.4 to 0. This means no corresponding relationship has been established. Set #1815.5 to 1. This means the absolute encoder is being used.
2. X-axis Reference Point Setting
1) In manual mode, move the X-axis close to the X-axis reference point, until the reference point position is within one screw pitch of the leadscrew.
2) On the machine tool, select the return-to-reference-point mode and press the X-axis positive direction key to return the X-axis to the reference point; the reference point indicator will light up.
3) Set parameter #1815.4 to 1, then power off and restart the machine. The X-axis reference point setting is complete.
3. Z-axis Reference Point Setting
1) Manually move the Z-axis close to the Z-axis reference point, until the reference point is within one screw pitch of the leadscrew.
2) On the machine tool, select the return-to-reference-point mode and press the Z-axis positive direction key to return the Z-axis to the reference point; the reference point indicator light will illuminate.
3) Set parameter #1815.4 to 1, then power off and restart the machine. The Z-axis reference point setting is now complete.
4. This setting is for reference point data loss. If not, check other parameters in the settings.
