The expansion process consists of three stages:
Phase 1 - Installation
The anchor is placed into a pre-drilled hole. The internal pin remains inside the anchor body without applying expansion force.
Phase 2 - Impact Expansion
A hammer strike drives the pin into the tapered bore, forcing the slotted anchor body to expand outward against the concrete or masonry wall. The taper design controls expansion speed and holding strength.
Phase 3 - Mechanical Locking
Once fully driven, the expanded sections create radial pressure against the substrate, forming a secure mechanical interlock that resists pull-out and shear loads.
Unlike torque-based anchors, hammer drive anchors expand through impact activation, providing reliable performance in vibration-prone applications such as equipment mounting and structural supports. Stainless steel sealing washers can be paired with the anchor head for improved sealing and surface protection.

Stainless Steel Hammer Drive Anchor vs Traditional Expansion Anchors
| Feature | Hammer Drive Expansion Anchor | Traditional Expansion Anchor |
|---|---|---|
| Installation | Hammer driven | Often requires tightening torque |
| Installation Speed | Fast installation | More installation steps |
| Tools Required | Hammer | Wrench or torque tools |
| Tamper Resistance | High | Depends on design |
| Best Use | Quick permanent fastening | Adjustable fastening applications |
